Airbnb Plans To Rent X-Men Mansion, ‘Up’ Home, ‘Purple Rain’ House, More

Airbnb is launching an “Icons” program, where users can book stays in famous places and enjoy unique experiences. One of the iconic homes on offer is a mansion in Westchester County, New York, transformed into the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning from “X-Men.” The house boasts rooms themed after “X-Men” characters, like Wolverine’s with claw marks on the alarm clock.

According to Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, the Icons initiative aims to expand the company's offerings beyond just accommodation to include experiences and more. He says the program will bring iconic cultural landmarks to life for guests. Another of the program's diverse offerings is Carl's house from Pixar's "Up," which can even be suspended in the air by a crane.

Airbnb's Icons program will offer exclusive experiences along with stays.Guests at the Prince’s “Purple Rain” house will enjoy rare music from the artist, and visitors to the Ferrari Museum in Italy will get a lap around the track with a professional driver. With 11 Icons at launch and plans for more throughout the year, Airbnb hopes to make these experiences accessible, with most costing under $100 per person per night.
